Q. I seem to get a notification, every time someone leaves a comment on a topic. Can you undo that?
A. There are both forum-level and thread-level subscriptions, this video shows you how to stop email from either level, visit the SLP YouTube channel.
[slp_directory] Shortcode for WordPress
MySLP SaaS Directories
Beta testing is currently underway for the MySLP SaaS version of the location directories. Since many deployment platforms do not utilize shortcodes, we have developed an alternate method for rendering the directory lists.
You can read about it on our Location Directory With MySLP SaaS post.
Power WordPress Plugin
Location directories , list of locations or states WITHOUT an interactive map, is possible in the buy-and-own WordPress plugins with the Power add-on.
The [slp_directory] shortcode is used to place a directory listing on a page or post. There are two main modes of operation for the shortcode which is determined but the listing style selected. The list style is determined via the style attribute. The general layout of the Landing Page listings is based on the Results Layout that is set for the base plugin.
The two modes are “list mode” and “landing page” mode. These modes are described below.
Search and Results Report (Legacy: pre-2208.15)
The Power Add On for the self managed plug-in, or the Professional Level or higher of the MYSLP SaaS subscriptions include basic search and results reports. When enabled you will see a new Report tab on the Store Locator Plus admin pages. This tab is where you can view and generate locator search reports. See what visitors are searching for and what results are being returned.
Why are my store pages messed up?
Check to make sure the SLP shortcode is not in quotes. WordPress changed how quotes can be implemented in shortcodes.
Check to make sure you do not have the Force Load JavaScript box checked.
How do I show two different maps with different locations on each?
Use the Power add on categories feature to differentiate the locations. Once your locations have been assigned categories you can use the only_with_category shortcode attribute to filter the results for each map.
Q: I am receiving error messages and something isn’t working the way it used to, what is wrong?
The most common issue is that there were updates in Store Locator Plus, WordPress, a non-Store Locator Plus plugin, or your theme that may be interacting with and breaking Store Locator Plus.
Update Your Store Locator Plus Add Ons
The first step should always be to check the Store Locator Plus versions page and make sure you are running the latest version of your Store Locator Plus plugins. There is often a free upgrade to a newer version of a Store Locator Plus add on that works with the current release of the base plugin.
Q: Some of the Map Markers are not where I know they should be how do I fix this?
When a location is added into your SLP data set, you will see a message “Store Locator Plus wants you to know:” and the output of the Latitude and Longitude where Google thinks the location is.
For Example, I added Sydney Opera House and no street address, just name, the city and the country Australia:
“Google thinks Sydney Australia is at lat: -33.8674869 long 151.2069902”
Q: My Locations Will Not Geocode. Why?
Whether doing a bulk import or adding locations by hand there are times when you will see a “location uncoded” or “cannot geocode” error message. This is always the result of an address that was sent to Google that cannot be processed in their address location system.
Map Not Showing
You activated the Store Locator Plus base plug-in and followed all the instructions but when you visit your locator page no map is there.
Here are some common reasons why the map will not appear:
Did you obtain a Google MAP API key?
As of June 22, 2016 Google requires all new domains, sites to obtain a key. There are many options based on how often your locations are queried. There are instructions in the SLP documentation site , in the SLP User Interface under INFO. See Getting Started Guide. More recently, 2018, Google has introduced security measures requiring SSL certification (HTTPS) for sites that may want the search to locate their customers location. (Location Sensor)
